Who are your greatest musical inspirations?
Beethoven, Deadmau5, and Katy Perry.
What’s one stereotype about women in EDM that’s totally untrue?
That we play pre-mixed sets and can’t produce our own music (lol).
What’s the number-one most played song on your laptop?
My latest tune, “Meant To Be.” But apart from that I’m currently obsessed with “Lighters Up” by Flosstradamus and Nghtmre.
What’s the first thing you do when you land in a new city, and why?
Check out the Snapchat geotag – ’cause I’m addicted!
Do you work out? Any tips for fitting in workouts while you’re on the road?
I try and move every day, whether it be on the floor of my hotel room, at a gym or outside. Travelling and working out is legitimately the most difficult thing to combine. I find that the last thing you want to do after a day of travelling is to work out. I try and do my workouts in the morning, and not beat myself up about it if I miss a few days. It’s all about doing what you can when you can!
What’s the most amazing meal you’ve eaten on tour?
I’m really excited because I’m eating at my most favorite Japanese restaurant in New York tomorrow – Blue Ribbon. They have such beautiful, fresh cuisine. I also love finding new spots to eat healthy and balanced meals that are vegan and raw – some of my favourite places include Cafe Gratitude in Los Angeles and Noorish in Canada.
Who is your biggest style icon? Why?
Bad Gal RiRi – she is amazing the way she transcends fashion norms and has the ability to move between so many different styles and trends seamlessly.
How do you keep your style fresh while you’re living out of a suitcase?
I work with a stylist from home and I really try hard to only wear show outfits once before re-gifting them to another home. It can be really difficult living out of a suitcase while trying to be fresh and fashionable so I’m really lucky to have the help of a stylist but it’s definitely something new for me, only wearing an outfit once then replacing it with something crazy and new even before you can wear it again. I try not to stick to fashion rules, I just go with what I’m feeling and what suits my body type. I am really short and quite muscular, so I have to be careful to choose outfits that are flattering and comfortable.
What’s one style rule you’re sticking to right now?
Double denim. Triple denim. Just lots of denim. Teamed with a white cap and sneakers.
What are three beauty products every traveler needs?
I use organic almond or walnut oil for my face and body to keep it moisturised, this is especially important for travel as your skin can become so dry. I love using Urban Decay setting spray for my face before shows so I don’t sweat off my makeup. Finally, I use an organic makeup wipe to make sure I’m cleaning my face of makeup completely after the show and before I go to bed.
Your hair is mermaid amazing. How do you keep it so healthy? Any favorite products you’d like to share?
To be honest with you, I don’t really use any products on my hair. I drink a lot of water and take hair and nail tablets once a week. When I’m home I go to the salon regularly for treatments and trims. Apart from that I rely on my genetics — big shoutout to my Pop for giving me the strong hair gene.
What’s your biggest dating turn-on?
Motivation. There is nothing sexier than a man with drive, desire and motivation.
Advice to aspiring female DJs?
Stay true to yourself, your music and your style. No matter what you do, or who you are, people will try and change you, mould you, or criticise you. Knowing what you want and reminding yourself of that daily is so important.
