You play and produce Electro House & Progressive House. How would you describe your own music, what is distinct about it?
You know, Electro and Progressive House is just a part of our musical baggage grabbed since 1998. We started from Techno and Electro, moved into Big Beat and French House, then became to make Synth Pop and Progressive House and now discovered ourselves in Moombahton.
On this long musical path we had a chance to work with many amazing producers such as Tiesto, Laidback Luke or Kaskade, but honestly we never could say what’s distinct about Swanky music. Guess our fans or musical critics should answer this question. They definitely know better 😉
Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.
We’ve just released four tracks EP called Get Swanky. This EP represents Swanky Tunes as multi genres producers. It reflects our musical experience of last couple years, shows changes in our taste and style.
Get Swanky is available now via all digital platforms. You can easily find a link on our Instagram, Facebook or Soundcloud accounts.
You well-known for your track “Here We Go” (a collaboration with Hard Rock Sofa), which was part of the “Fast & Furious 6” soundtrack. What other tracks, remixes or mix-sets would you recommend to someone that is not yet familiar with your music?
We believe you have to check our collaboration with Russian duo Going Deeper called “Far From Home. This house track got more than 8 million plays on Spotify.
One more to check is “Entertain Us” produced together with Far East Movement. And the latest one is our remix of Armin van Buuren’s “Heading Up High”.
What is it like breaking into the US market of EDM as you’re based in Russia?
It means: long flights and jet lags when tour is coming. And if you mean the general fact—undoubtedly it is a thing in your life that happens pretty much rarely and this kind of success definitely brings moral satisfaction for you as a DJ, as the USA is one of the toughest markets for dance music these days. So once you have ability to break into it—don’t sleep and keep on working.
What’s your creative process like from start to finish for a single?
Studio day 1—idea comes in, Studio day 2—working it out and playing with it, Studio day 3—when demo is ready we approve it between ourselves and our team and then management and our label does the rest. It is the basic example certainly and things may vary depending on the type of track and story behind it, like if it is the collaboration with other artists or a solo record.
What was the best experience of 2017?
Tons of live experience, we played Ultra Miami, Tomorrowland, Summerburst, Storm and exotic places like Myanmar for example. We are definitely in good shape as we feel for the shows.
What do you feel has been your biggest achievement?
Main is to break Asian market and raise number of fans, of course making it to top 100 DJ MAG as 3rd year in row.
Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your sets and why?
Diplo : …. Skrillex: …. Because of the mega energy that track bring to people on dancefloor immediately, perfect party emotions.
What do you have coming up in the future?
Many serious collaborations with colleagues from all around the globe who you do know but it is secret for now. Trust us – it will be a surprise.
