For the Deadmau5 horde, Drop The Poptart needs no introduction. It began life as a mau5 Soundcloud experiment back in 2013, later morphing into Somewhere Up Here on last year’s while (1<2) album. Now, the production is finally getting a standalone release – albeit under a different name.
Drop The Poptart/Somewhere Up Here has been reworked once more, this time evolving into Stay, a radio edited version of the original track attributed to vocalist Colleen D’Agostino – Deadmau5 has been given a “featuring” credit. Joel Zimmerman’s trusty label mau5trap announced the news over the weekend, posting the latest version of the track in full on Soundcloud. There’s no word yet on a release date, but mau5trap have assured it’s coming “soonish” on Colleen D’Agostino’s debut EP Collide.
Drop The Poptart isn’t the only Deadmau5 track to get a rework this month. Last week, Zimmerman posted an acoustic version of the while(1<2) album standout Seeya, which also features Colleen D’Agostino on vocals. Catch up with that over here and wrap your ears around Stay below.
